Hackers have been seeking to break into the US White House computer network for the last few weeks that led to temporary breakdowns in the operation of several services. Hackers suspected of cyber attacks could have worked for the Russian government, The Washington Post stated with a reference to its own sources.
Unnamed US administration officials said earlier that suspicious activity was detected in the White House computer network.
Hackers who, as authors of an article posted on The Washington Post website said shortly after the incident, could have worked for the Russian government alarmed American security services.
Russian hackers frequently evoke suspicions of US security services. Last Monday, another American newspaper Wall Street Journal has published a report delivered by company FireEye specialized in computer security saying that Russia-based hackers APT28 regularly steal data regarding NATO and US allies.
