KIEV, October 26. /TASS/. Arseniy Yatsenyuk might remain Ukraine’s prime minister but the candidature of the new head of government will be agreed by participants in the future parliamentary coalition, Yuri Lutsenko, the leader of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, which is leading the early parliamentary elections, said on Sunday after the voting was over.

Commenting on a question about Yatesenyuk’s prospects as a prime minister, Lutsenko said, “if he agrees, I don’t think there will be any problems.”

He said a coalition agreement for the new parliament will be offered tomorrow.

“We no declarations of the winning parties and can say that the Pyotr Poroshenko Bloc declared the necessity of European reforms for the sake of joining the European Union. The People’s Front declared a similar approach. Samopomoshch said the same. Batkivshchina is somewhat different but speak about the same things in general,” Lursenko said.

In his words, these political forces “have more than 60% to form a stable pro-European majority” in the new Rada.

Rada speaker backs Yatsenyuk as Prime Minister

Earlier, speaker of Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Turchynov said he hopes the People’s Front led by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk would be the pivot of the parliamentary majority that would support Yatsenyuk as prime minister for another term.

When asked about possible coalition with the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, Turchynov said the problem is not in a coalition agreement, but in formalities, in the configuration of the parliament.

“Now, based on the exit poll results, it is difficult to say anything. I would like to remind that only 50% of seats are to be taken by party tickets. The rest will be taken by lawmakers elected in one-seat constituencies and it will greately influence the ultimate architecture of the Verkhovna Rada. We will be able to discuss anything only after the Central Election Commission announces preliminary results,” he said, adding that the coalition should include “all democratic forces.”

According to the results of the national and international exit polls and a poll conducted by the Inter television channel, the Petro Poroshenko Bloc is winning from 22 to 23% of the vote. It is followed by Yatesnyuk’s and Turchynov’s People’s Front with 19.7-21.8% Next are Samopomoshch led by Mayor of Lviv Andrei Sadovy (11-14.2%), Yuri Boiko’s Opposition Bloc (7/8-9.9%), Oleh Lyashko’s Radical Party (about 6.5%), Oleh Tyahnybok’s Svoboda (5.8-6.3%), and Yulia Tymoshenko’s Batkivshchyna (5.6%).
