Opposition Bloc does not rule out vote rigging

Ukraine’s Opposition Bloc led by former energy minister Yuri Boiko has pledged to do its utmost to prevent possible falsification of results of parliamentary polls.

Immediately after the results of exit polls were made public, the Bloc’s leader Yuri Boiko said these were the “dirtiest” elections in the entire Ukrainian history.

“The Opposition Bloc has achieved a good result and will be represented in the parliament,” he said. “But there have never been such dirty elections in the Ukrainian history.”

Earlier Yuri Pavlenko of the Opposition Bloc told TASS that the Bloc had expected such results. “This is approximately ten percent, but this is not the final result - according to exit polls, we have a big latent electorate and many people were afraid to speak out during the polls. So, the result might be higher,” he said.

He said the Bloc’s headquarters was afraid the authorities might rig votes during the upcoming night. “So, we will spare no effort to protect the election results and each vote cast for the Opposition Bloc,” he said.
