KIEV, October 26. /TASS/. Voting turnout in early parliamentary elections is reaching a maximum in the Lviv region, western Ukraine, Central Election Commission deputy head Zhanna Usenko-Chyornaya said on Sunday.

At the moment the turnout in the Lviv region has reached at least 40%, Usenko-Chyornaya said.

The lowest turnout has been reported in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, eastern Ukraine, with 26%, she said.

“The voting is honest, open and conforms to all international standards,” she said.

“Those who wanted to prevent the elections failed to realise their plans,” Usenko-Chyornaya said.

“There are far fewer violations than in the May elections,” she said.

Over 34.6 million people are eligible to vote.

Over 32,000 polling stations work in the country and other 112 polling stations are opened in 72 countries to allow Ukrainian citizens to vote.

Totally, 6,436 candidates seek to take seats in the Verkhovna Rada.

Under the law, 50% of deputies are elected on party lists and 50% on single-seat constituencies.
