Many observers say Poroshenko indirectly violated the election law by making statements on the day of silence

KIEV, October 26. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Sunday pledged again to bring peace to Donbass, reform the power and create a pro-European coalition in the parliament.

He expressed hope that the Ukrainian people will make a conscious choice, referring to parliamentary elections taking place in the country.

Poroshenko said he had just returned from the country’s southeast. He made sure that the elections were held without significant violations.

“The rumours that the majority of polling stations in Donbass will not open do not correspond to reality. Today the turnout in Donbass can be compared with how many people have voted in Kiev,” he said.

“I hope that I’ll succeed in creating a pro-European coalition. I hope that we’ll be able to have a strong team for building a strong country that will bring peace to Donbass,” Poroshenko said.

On Saturday, October 25, on the day of silence Poroshenko, whose bloc (Petro Poroshenko Bloc) runs in the elections, twice appeared on television. He called on compatriots “to vote according to conscience”. Then Poroshenko told TV Channel 24 about his plans for next week.

On Monday, October 27, he intends to submit an issue of annulling a deputy’s immunity. “From Monday I’ll raise the question of the proportionate system and the annulment of a deputy’s immunity,” Poroshenko said.

On October 29, a decision may be taken on the gas agreements with Russia, he said.

Many observers say Poroshenko indirectly violated the election law by making statements on the day of silence.
