The former governor of Jakarta, he has become the second directly elected president of Indonesia. Joko Widodo has an image of a popular politician, not related to political elites. He was born in a family of modest means in Central Java and nominated to the post by the Indonesian Democratic Party that won the parliamentary election in April.
