MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. Western nation's attempts to railroad a resolution on human rights in North Korea through the UN General Assembly are devoid of legitimacy, the DPRK Ambassador in Moscow, Kim Hyun-joon said on Thursday in an exclusive interview with TASS.

The US and Western countries are making unending references to the alleged violations of human rights in North Korea as they pursue their self-serving political objectives, Ambassador Kim said.

He indicated that the ongoing rights campaign is aimed at the UN General Assembly opening in November and pursues the goal of misinterpreting the situation in North Korea so that the assembly would issue a strongly worded resolution on it with support from satellite states.

These attempts on the part of the West "are devoid of legitimacy and conceal many highly questionable elements," Kim said.

He called the plans to submit a draft resolution to General Assembly a typical instance of politicization of human rights, selectivity and double standards.

If the UN passes a document of this sort, it will create a very dangerous precedent, which might turn into a ploy for the forces that may misuse it for bringing the unwanted countries in the dock proceeding from petty political motives.

In the latter situation, American diktat may push the international political system into a political chaos, Kim Hyun-joon said.
