Russia sends plane with humanitarian aid to Syria

MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. The Russian Emergencies Ministry has sent a plane to Syria to deliver humanitarian aid and take about 90 Russian and CIS citizens from the country, the ministry’s spokesman Alexander Drobyshevsky told TASS.

On Tuesday, an EMERCOM Ilyushin-76 plane with humanitarian aid cargoes aboard flew from Ramenskoye airport, near Moscow, to the Syrian city of Latakia. The plane will deliver 17 tons of cargoes canned meat, sugar and baby food to Syria, he said, adding it was an order of the Russian government.

The plane also has a two-ton cargo sent by the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society.

The plane will take about 90 citizens, who want to leave the conflict zone, on the special flight back to Russia, Drobyshevsky said.
