Russia calls for Palestine national accord government powers spread to all territories

Russian presidential special Middle East envoy, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov voiced support at the meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on October 12 in Cairo

MOSCOW, October 13. /TASS/. Russia supports the spread of the powers of the Palestinian national reconciliation government to all Palestinian territories, Russian presidential special Middle East envoy, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on October 12.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday that the meeting was held in Cairo on the sidelines of the international donor conference on Gaza restoration.

The sides focused “on the Palestinian-Israeli settlement situation and problems of ensuring inter-Palestinian accord.” They said wide-ranging political agreements, excluding the recurrence of hostilities that make innocent civilians suffer, are needed for the reconstruction of the destroyed Gaza infrastructure.

“The Russian side in this context voiced support for the spread of the powers of the national reconciliation government to all the Palestinian territories - the Gaza Strip and the West Bank of the River Jordan,” the ministry said.

Among other issues, Bogdanov and Abbas touched upon further strengthening of the traditionally friendly Russian-Palestinian relations.
