No rapid Ebola spread in Russia possible — consumer watchdog
The virus spread to Russia is possible, but the situation is under control and all the necessary measures are being taken, assures Rospotrebnadzor's head Anna Popova
MOSCOW, October 9. /TASS/. No panic forecasts exist over the Ebola haemorrhagic fever spread in Russia, head of the Russian federal consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova told reporters on Thursday.
“The virus spread to Russia is possible, but forecasting of such cases to the day is unreal,” she said, commenting on the statement made by scientists from Boston, suggesting that the Ebola virus could reach Russia on October 24.
“The situation is under control, all the necessary measures are being taken,” Popova said. “We are monitoring all that is written by our colleagues abroad, but are guided by the Russian science forecasts.”
The Rospotrebnadzor head also said, “the situation in West Africa does not fit in with the usual outbreak scenarios, this is a matter for separate discussion and separate consideration and separate analysis that is currently underway.”
“We will get the results a little later and familiarize the public with them,” the Rospotrebnadzor head said.
