SYDNEY, October 6. /TASS/. The GO Phoenix ship charted by the Malaysian government has resumed search for the Malaysian Boeing presumably lost in the Indian Ocean in March. The Fugro Equator and Fugro Discovery ships belonging to the Dutch company Fugro are to join search efforts soon.

For almost four months the Fugro Equator has conducted batimetric research in the presumed area of the Boeing crash to draft a map of the ocean floor in the presumed crash area. The results proved that the search area with an overall territory of 60,000 square kilometers should be moved southwest of the Australian western coast. The new stage of the search operation will continue for approximately one year, according to Australian Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss.

Nevertheless, ex-commander of the Australian Armed Forces Angus Houston, who heads the search operation, said in a recent conversation with journalists that the missing plane was not likely to be found at all. He reminded of a lost ship - the Sydney, which belonged to the Australian Navy. The ship was lost in the Indian Ocean in 1941; nothing of it was found then to trace its whereabouts. Fragments of the sunken ship were found 67 years later.

The Boeing 777-200 was lost on the way from Kuala-Lumpur to Beijing on March 7, 2014. There were 227 passengers and 12 crewmen on board. Contact with the plane was lost approximately two hours after the plane departed from Kuala-Lumpur.

An intensive search for the plane, that continued in the Indian Ocean in a water area of approximately 2,500 kilometers west of the Australian coast for a month and a half, yielded no result. In the end of April the search operation was considerably narrowed and finally, search ships that took part in the search operation abandoned the search area.
