OSCE monitoring mission to stay in Donbass for another six months
The OSCE mission, in line with the Minsk agreement reached at the OSCE-mediated talks on September 5, is to control the ceasefire regime in eastern Ukraine
KIEV, October 6. /TASS/. The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM), deployed since late March, will continue observing the situation in Donbass for at least another six months, spokesman Michael Bociurkiw has said.
Bociurkiw told journalists that two out of four drones are to arrive in Ukraine Monday to help members of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to monitor the situation in the territories where active battles are ongoing.
The OSCE mission, in line with the Minsk agreement reached at the OSCE-mediated talks on September 5, is to control the ceasefire regime in eastern Ukraine.
Twenty-five new members of the OSCE mission arrived in Ukraine in late September to join 78 monitors working in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevgeny Perebeinos said.
Under the mandate, the mission initially consists of 100 monitors, but may expand by a total of up to 400 additional monitors depending on developments in the country.
