On September 29, the EU Council decided to delay the implementation of the Free Trade Area section of the Association Agreement till the end of 2015

KIEV, September 30. /ITAR-TASS/. All internal state procedures have been completed in Ukraine for the enactment of the Association Agreement with the EU, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevgeny Perebeinos said on Tuesday.

“Ukraine has handed over the instrument of ratification of the Association Agreement to the depositary of the General Secretariat of the EU Council,” he said.

“Thus, Ukraine has completed all internal state procedures for the enactment of the Agreement,” Perebeinos said.

He said that on September 29, the EU Council decided to delay the implementation of the Free Trade Area (FTA) section of the agreement till the end of 2015.

“This fully corresponds to the trilateral agreements reached by Ukraine, Russia and the EU on September 12, 2014,” Perebeinos said.

This “opens the way towards starting the implementation of the Agreement from November 1, 2014 practically in full, with the exception of Section 4, namely the free trade zone,” he said.

On September 17, the Ukrainian government approved a plan for implementing the Agreement. “Till 2017 it should be fully implemented,” Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.

The plan, containing about 70 pages, includes the adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to the EU norms and issues related to investment promotion.
