International, Ukrainian officials to present plan for restoration of eastern Ukraine
The mission has been working in Ukraine for a while already in order to devise a plan for restoring the eastern territories
KIEV, September 30. /ITAR-TASS/. By the end of this week Ukrainian officials in cooperation with representatives of the European Union, the United Nations and the World Bank must evaluate the damage caused to Donbass infrastructures and present a plan for repairing the damage, representatives of the joint EU, UN and WB mission said at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman. The mission has been working in Ukraine for a while already in order to devise a plan for restoring the eastern territories.
“The mission’s members said that this week they plan to conduct joint work with Ukrainian government officials to evaluate the losses, draw up a plan for repairing Donbass and identifying the financial mechanisms that will be employed in the process of restoration,” the Ukrainian Regional Affairs Ministry’s press-service said.
It is noted that support will be furnished not only for the areas affected by combat actions, but the regions that have assumed “the main burden of meeting the needs of the internally displaced persons.”
Deputy Prime Minister, Regional Affairs Minister Vladimir Groisman, has suggested involving the local population in the restoration of war-ravaged Donbass.
“It is essential to involve those resident in the area in the restoration process. This will be a prerequisite of success for the whole process of restoration, consolidate efforts by all parties and serve as a major element of translating into reality the Ukrainian president’s peace plan,” Groisman said.
