The principles proclaimed in the UN Charter are fully ignored while the so-called resolutions are approved in the UN under pressure from the United States, the Rodong Sinmun newspaper says

PYONGYANG, September 18. /ITAR-TASS/. The Rodong Sinmun, the central newspaper of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), considers it necessary to reform the United Nations organization. At present, in the opinion of the newspaper, "The principles of respect for sovereignty and non-intervention in the internal affairs of other countries, the principles proclaimed in the UN Charter, are fully ignored while the so-called resolutions are approved in the Organization under pressure from the United States".

The newspaper, which reflects the attitude of the North Korean leadership, regards as a typical example the resolutions on sanctions applied unilaterally against the DPRK by the UN Security Council. The sanctions, in the paper's view, were imposed by the United States and South Korea.

The Rodong Sinmun warns in an article on Thursday that if the US is allowed to implement its ambitious plans for the establishment of world domination under the UN signboard, "There would be no justice in international relations any longer, and the whole world would submit to the laws of the jungle".

Not only the DPRK, but also the entire global community "have long been putting forward a demand for a reform of the UN". "The UN leadership should heed this fair demand," the article points out.
