Yatsenyuk: No plans to finance restoration in Ukraine’s east from budget
The funds will be replenished only by Ukrainian oligarchs’ donations and international donor aid, the Ukrainian prime minister said
KIEV, September 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s Finance Ministry will create a special fund to rebuild the country’s eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions shattered by conflict, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said on Wednesday.
The funds will be replenished only by Ukrainian oligarchs’ donations and international donor aid, Yatsenyuk said.
“We will have a relevant donor conference,” he said, adding that money from the federal budget would be allocated only if the Ukrainian government “regains full control of the territory and enterprises start operating and paying taxes”.
“We will not take money from [the cities of] Lviv, Poltava, Zhitomyr, Ukraine’s retirees, medical workers, and teachers, and send them just to restore the territories which are not controlled by Ukraine,” Yatsenyuk said.
