Delayed enactment of Association Agreement with EU not to stall Ukraine’s reforms - FM
KIEV, September 13. /ITAR-TASS/. The delay in the enactment of the Association Agreement with the European Union, put off until 2016, will not affect reforms in Ukraine, its Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin said on Saturday.
Reforms will be “full-scale and will go at full speed”, Klimkin said at the Yalta European Strategy forum, held in Kiev.
“We have a clear vision, shared by the EU, of how we will carry out these reforms,” he added.
On Friday, Kiev made the decision to postpone the enactment of the Association Agreement until December 31, 2015. During this time, Ukrainian manufacturers will be able to “use the advantages of unilateral EU preferences and get extra time to adapt to the growing competition within the free trade area with the EU”, the minister said.
“The arrangements resolve even Russia’s hypothetical concerns about the agreement. Ukraine and the EU agreed to continue trade consultations with the Russian Federation,” Klimkin said.
