WARSAW, September 09. /ITAR-TASS/. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Tuesday after a meeting of the country’s National Security Council that he has tendered his resignation.

“I submitted the papers,” Tusk told journalists at the exit from the building where the Council’s meeting was held. He handed his notice of resignation to Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski.

Earlier, the presidential press service reported that Komorowski will accept the premier’s resignation on Thursday afternoon. After that, the president will have two weeks to offer to the parliament a new head of government, who will form the new cabinet.

Komorowski said he will support the candidacy of Sejm speaker Ewa Kopacz put forward by the Civic Platform ruling party.
