Japan expects Ukraine ceasefire to last long

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga added that the situation in the conflict zone needed further monitoring

TOKYO, September 08. /ITAR-TASS/. The Japanese Government hopes that the ceasefire in eastern Ukraine will last long, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said on Monday.

He also said the situation in the conflict zone needed further monitoring.

Suga said Japan's decisions on new sanctions against Russia will be made "in coordination with the European Union."

The ceasefire deal was signed on Friday between the Kiev government and representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.
