China is a US priority, says Obama's security adviser

BEIJING, September 08. /ITAR-TASS/. US President Barack Obama considers relations with China to be a priority among all the other issues facing Washington, US top national security adviser Susan Rice said on Monday.

Rice, who arrived in Beijing to prepare Obama's visit to China in November, made the statement at the meeting with China's State Councilor Yang Jiechi.

Yang said both countries should "respect each other's core interests and major concerns and constructively manage our differences and sensitive issues." He said they would discuss military cooperation, counter terrorism, the Middle East, North Korea, Iran and other issues.

Rice is also scheduled to meet with China's defense and foreign ministers on Tuesday.
