KIEV, September 04. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Thursday the meetings with Western leaders focused on support for Ukraine’s security and military-technical cooperation.

“We exchanged views on several important issues: support for Ukraine’s security. The NATO resolution has said Ukraine will be provided the Alliance’s support. Four trust funds will be set up to solve problems in logistics, communications, cybercrime, social rehabilitation of injured servicemen and others,” Poroshenko said in Newport, Wales.

Poroshenko said he had told the summiteers about “the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin” and the upcoming Contact Group meeting on Ukraine due to be held in Minsk on September 5.

The Contact Group “may sign a document, which determines consistent steps” on the Ukrainian settlement. “I praise the fact that a ceasefire is the first stage,” he said.

“If the meeting in Minsk is held, I’ll issue an order to cease fire upon my return to Kiev. We expect the peace plan to start implementing tomorrow. All parties hope for this,” he said.

“Ukraine wants peace. It is tired of war and will do all to ensure peace,” Poroshenko said, adding “A ceasefire, disarmament, a nationwide dialogue and the adoption of legislative acts will be the first step towards peace and bring stability to the Donetsk and Lugansk region.
