MOSCOW, September 04. /ITAR-TASS/. The International Committee of the Red Cross is seriously concerned over the state of waste water treatment facilities in the war-torn city of Luhansk, southeastern Ukraine, deputy head of the ICRC regional delegation to Russia Bruno Husquinet said on Thursday.

An epidemic outbreak can threaten the city, he said.

“Two days ago I arrived from Luhansk. I spent eight days in the city. Due to the fact that there is no power, residents of Luhansk have been living without a sewage system for 45 days,” Husquinet said.

“If the city authorities fail to solve these problems within days, this can be fraught with serious consequences,” he said.

Russian Federation Council (upper house) Deputy Chairman Yuri Vorobyov said President Vladimir Putin’s plan on the peaceful settlement in Ukraine envisaged sending groups for repairing life support systems.
