MOSCOW, August 27./ITAR-TASS/. Abkhazian President-elect Raul Khadzhimba said in an interview to ITAR-TASS on Wednesday that he planned to visit Russia after the inauguration, which will be held on September 25.

"The main task for our small country is to build relations with Russia," he said.

The president-elect said he hoped a new treaty with Russia would be prepared this year to replace the outdated one.

"It is a normal process. All treaties in some time need revising with new realities taken into consideration. The new document must take into account the problems facing Abkhazia and Russia in the international arena and in relations with Georgia, Europe and the United States," Khadzhimba said.

"It is very important for us. We want guarantees for our security to be clearly specified."

The treaty will also cover border, social and economic development issues, he added.
