PYONGYANG, August 27. /ITAR-TASS/. North Korea (DPRK) has dismissed as false the US accusations that DPRK is involved in counterfeiting US dollar bills, the North’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Wednesday.

KCNA said in a commentary that Washington claims that Pyongyang allegedly “has forged US dollar notes by importing equipment and paper from a certain country and ink from a certain country. It even claimed that the above-said story was testified by “defectors from the North” and the “super notes” faked by north Korea are so sophisticated that only ultra-modern note discriminating machine can identify them, and the criminals and equipment should be handed over to the US”.

However, KCNA says, Washington “has failed to produce evidence proving its assertions. On the contrary, the US public is becoming increasingly vocal expressing suspicions and objections.” The agency added that the US investigation authorities formed a group and conducted investigation for almost a year but what it found at last was the fact that “the story about North Korea’s counterfeit notes” was incredible.

According to KCNA, spreading such unconfirmed information and rumours, the United States is staging another provocation against DPRK with the aim to tarnish the republic’s reputation in the international arena. However, in reality, “counterfeit notes printing, drug trafficking and other crimes are chronic ills of the United States,” for which spreading slander about other states, including North Korea, has become usual practice, KCNA added.
