Last night passed without shelling in Donetsk

Witnesses said that the road from Ugledar, 60 kilometres southwest of Donetsk, to Donetsk was closed on Wednesday morning

DONETSK, August 27. /ITAR-TASS/. The last night passed relatively calm in Ukraine’s eastern highly volatile city of Donetsk. City residents noted that this was silent almost in all districts of the city, sole gunshots were heard only in the small hours on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, residential area Gladovka in Kievsky district of the city has been shelled up to midnight. Eyewitnesses said that the gunfire has been waged from the area of the airport. Unmanned aerial combat aircrafts were noticed over the city again.

Offices of Ukrainian bank Oshchadbank do not operate after shells had hit them in the Kievsky district on Tuesday. Money on deposits can be cashed only in two offices of the bank. Despite a tense situation in the city social allowances are being paid to city residents, pensions are paid fully. Pensioners are lining up in enormous queues for pensions since four hours in the morning.

Witnesses said that the road from Ugledar, 60 kilometres southwest of Donetsk, to Donetsk was closed on Wednesday morning.

Water supply problems remain unsettled. Residents from the Leninsky district of the city are left without water for more than a week.

Residents in the city of Mariupol, about 110 kilometres away from Donetsk, said regional authorities previously moving there from Donetsk have left the city. A larger part of servicemen have also abandoned the city. Shop shelves have become empty quickly. Drivers have enormous problems with fuel.
