Poroshenko said early parliamentary elections announced on Monday would not prevent ratification
KIEV, August 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, will ratify the European Union Association Agreement in September, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Tuesday.
Legal instruments would be sent to Brussels immediately after the process, Poroshenko said at a meeting with EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.
Poroshenko said early parliamentary elections announced on Monday would not prevent ratification. The text would remain unchanged and the agreement's adoption would speed reforms in Ukraine, he said.
The leader's decision to "terminate powers of the 7th Verkhovna Rada," set the election date as October 26.
