Off-road vehicles of Red Cross move across Russian-Ukrainian border

DONETSK, August 21. /ITAR-TASS/. A total of two off-road vehicles of the International Committee of the Red Cross with diplomatic number plates have moved across the Russian-Ukrainian border, an ITAR-TASS reporters said in a dispatch from the spot.

The vehicles passed all the checking formalities and crossed into the Ukrainian territory from the Izvarino checkpoint on the Russian side of the border.

Also on the Ukrainian side of the border, Russian and Ukrainian customs officers were clearing the cargo of the first four trucks out of the 270-truck-strong Russian humanitarian aid convoy awaiting an opportunity to deliver aid to war-torn eastern Ukraine since August 14.

“At 15:00 hours Moscow Standard Time (11:00 hours GMT) the trucks crossed the control line of the Donetsk border crossing point (on the territory of the Russian Rostov region, not to be confused with the East-Ukrainian city of Donetsk - ITAR-TASS),” Rayan Farukshin, the press secretary of Russia’s Southern Customs Department told ITAR-TASS. “Russian and Ukrainian customs officials began the joint checking formalities with them.
