No demands from EU for Brazil to avoid increasing food import to Russia — ambassador
The Brazilian media has earlier circulated reports that the EU leadership might ask Brazil to refrain from taking its niche on the Russian market
MOSCOW, August 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Brazil’s ambassador in Moscow said his country has not received any requests for avoiding an increase in the export of food supplies to Russia.
“No EU official has approached the leadership of Brazil with such an initiative yet,” Ambassador Antonio Jose Vallim Guerreiro told a news conference in Moscow on Thursday. He added he was aware that Brazilian mass media circulated reports the EU leadership might ask Brazil to refrain from taking its niche on the Russian market.
“This question has not been discussed at any level,” Guerreiro said. He remarked that the leadership of his country had no leverage to influence businesses or exert pressure on them.
Guerreiro is certain that even if there were such a request from the EU, its effects would be “equal to zero".
