Russia and Euro parliament group set for September talks in Paris
In April, following Crimea's accession to Russia, PACE deprived the Russian delegation of the right to vote at assembly sessions
MOSCOW, August 19. /ITAR-TASS/. The leader of Russia’s parliamentary lower house travels to Paris next month to meet the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) against the background of sanctions imposed on Russia by that organization over events in Ukraine.
Speaker Sergei Naryshkin and PACE President Anne Brasseur will meet as the European body’s Presidential Committee assembles in the French capital on September 1-2, the State Duma lower house press service said on Tuesday.
In April, following Crimea's accession to Russia, PACE deprived the Russian delegation of the right to vote at assembly sessions. Russia was removed from the group's leading posts and banned from participation in its observation missions.
Following this move, Russia's delegation suspended its work in the assembly until the end of the year.
