EU, NATO cannot provide military aid to Ukraine — Finnish PM
Alexander Stubb says NATO offers military aid only to its members, and the EU has no resources for such aid
HELSINKI, August 18. /ITAR-TASS/. The European Union and NATO cannot provide military aid to Ukraine, Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb said on Yle TV on Monday.
“This (military aid provision) is, naturally, impossible. NATO offers such aid only to its members, which is well known, and the EU has no resources for such aid,” he said.
On Sunday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said in an interview to the Deutschlandfunk radio station that the EU and NATO should provide military aid to Kiev. Answering a question on whether Kiev requested the EU and NATO military aid, Klimkin said, “We need military aid. It would be helpful for our troops.” The Ukrainian minister added that he hoped for a ceasefire and a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
