Russian, Ukrainian foreign ministers highlight need for security of humanitarian mission

MOSCOW, August 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Ukrainian counterpart Andrei Klimkin on Thursday discussed the implementation of Russia’s initiative to deliver humanitarian aid to southeastern Ukraine.

In a telephone conversation, Lavrov discussed “practical aspects of implementing Russia’s initiative for humanitarian aid to the conflict-torn regions in southeastern Ukraine”, the Foreign Ministry said.

“Russia, Ukraine and the International Committee of the Red Cross are continuing intensive contacts,” the ministry said.

“The priority is that militiamen in southeastern Ukraine and Kiev-controlled units should join efforts in ensuring the security of the upcoming humanitarian mission,” it said.
