KIEV, August 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine can accept any humanitarian aid only under international law and solely from the Red Cross, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian premier’s statement came after Russia had dispatched a huge convoy of humanitarian aid to residents of war-torn eastern Ukraine escorted by representatives from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Yatsenyuk said Ukraine had accumulated about $6 million in a special fund with the support of international partners, which was managed by the Office of the UN High Commissioner and was intended for aid provision to eastern territories affected by Kiev’s military operation.

“We, as the government of Ukraine and the president of Ukraine, are delivering first necessity items to all the liberated territories,” Yatsenyuk said.

“We, as the Ukrainian state, have ensured and are capable of ensuring supplies for our citizens,” the premier claimed.

Yatsenyuk said that Kiev had already dispatched about 270 tons of first necessity items to the areas affected by the armed conflict and intended to continue these supplies.

“I’m turning to the Red Cross with a request to help ensure that these cargoes reach people,” Yatsenyuk said.
