DONETSK, August 07. /ITAR-TASS/. The Ukrainian army is preparing an assault on Donetsk and the city of Makeevka pulling in a large amount of artillery and servicemen, press office of the Donetsk People’s Republic said on Thursday.

On Wednesday evening, the army shelled Donetsk western and southern outskirts, the press office added. Fierce fighting took place during the day in the area between the city of Snehznoye and Dmitrovka village.

The militia defeated two Ukrainian army units leaving Dyakovo village in the Luhansk Region; some Ukrainian servicemen broke through to the city of Miusinsk.

The Donetsk militia continued the battle in the area and was strengthening positions, said the press office.
