Tehran urges Egypt to open Rafah for Gaza humanitarian aid

TEHRAN, August 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Iranian Foreign Ministry urged Egypt to open Rafah border crossing to enable humanitarian aid delivery to the Gaza Strip, IRNA agency reported on Tuesday.

As soon as the crossing is opened, wounded Palestinians will be delivered to Iranian hospitals, and humanitarian aid collected in Iran will flow to the Gaza population, said Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein-Amir Abdollahian.

The official met Egyptian counterpart Mohammed Badreddin Zayed and discussed the issue at the Non-Aligned Movement forum in Tehran. The meeting was productive and important, and the sides agreed there was a need to give due attention to the situation in Gaza, he said.
