Ukraine to blacklist 500 Russian showbiz artists, says minister’s adviser
Activists of Ukraine’s Freedom and Right Sector nationalist parties tried to disrupt a concert of Ukrainian singer Ani Lorak at Ibiza night club blaming her for frequent tours in Russia
KIEV, August 04. /ITAR-TASS/. The Ukrainian Interior Ministry will deny entry to more than 500 Russian showbiz artists who have supported Crimea’s accession and welcomed independence moods in eastern Ukraine, interior minister’s adviser posted on his social networking site page on Monday.
“We are now preparing a list of about 500 Russian activists, approving annexation of Crimea and division of Ukraine, who will be banned from entering the country,” Anton Gerashchenko wrote in comments on an incident on the beach of a night club in Odessa late on Sunday.
Activists of Ukraine’s Freedom and Right Sector nationalist parties tried to disrupt a concert of Ukrainian singer Ani Lorak at Ibiza night club blaming her for frequent tours in Russia.
“I don’t approve of the activity of Ani Lorak and other showbiz, culture and arts figures in respect of Russia. I believe it would not be right to let them make money on concerts and performances in Ukraine - let them go to Crimea,” he said.
Earlier, the Latvian Foreign Ministry blacklisted some Russian nationals, including popular singers Iosif Kobzon, Valeria and Oleg Gazoanov.
The state administration of the Ukrainian central Dnepropetrovsk region has asked the city authorities to strip Kobzon of the title of Honoured Citizen of Dnepropetrovsk.
