BERLIN, August 04. /ITAR-TASS/. German economic minister has suspended the implementation of combat training center deal between German weaponry consortium Rheinmetall AG and Russian army, German Sueddeutsche Zeitung daily said on Monday.

The center in the Russian settlement of Mulino was expected to train up to 30,000 servicemen annually. The deal was estimated at €120 million.

In March, the German government announced it froze cooperation on this project amid events in Ukraine. Now the permit issued to Rheinmetall by the previous cabinet has been revoked completely, the paper said.

The measure followed the EU-approved sectoral sanctions against Russia that include an arms embargo. However, the prohibitive measures approved in Brussels do not apply to the deals already clinched, which means the federal government went beyond the EU sanctions, the paper said.
