Foreign Ministry urges Russians to stay away from Libya amid military clashes
MOSCOW, August 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Foreign Ministry urges Russian citizens to refrain from visiting Libya as political crisis and violence in the country are escalating.
“In view of the political crisis in Libya, which has toughened in the recent days due to the large-scale violent clashes between the opposing militant groups in the country’s capital city of Tripoli and other regions, Russian embassy officials in Tripoli have been evacuated to Tunisia”, Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
The ministry said that the embassy officials are to stay in Tunisia till the crisis de-escalates and they can return safely to the Libyan capital.
“Meanwhile we will keep in touch with the Libyan government, the country’s leading political forces and regional military groups”, the ministry officials stressed.
