MOSCOW, August 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian members of the international commission in charge of investigation into the Boeing 777 crash have not visited the crash area yet, a Russian aviation official said on Friday.

Oleg Storchevoy, the deputy head of the Russian Federal Agency of Air Transport, said the Russian experts were waiting for authorization from the Dutch side to visit the crash area.

“Until recently, the International Commission has not given any orders to leave for the crash site,” Storchevoy, who represents Russia at the Commission, explained.

The Dutch Safety Board which took over formal responsibility for the air crash investigation promised to allow Russian experts to visit the crash site.

In accordance with standards and recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Annex 13 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation also known as the Chicago Convention, access to the crash site must be authorized by a party in charge of the investigation.

Boeing 777 of Malaysia Airlines crashed en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur over Ukraine’s Donetsk region on July 17, killing all 298 people onboard.
