DONETSK, August 01./ITAR-TASS/. One person has been killed and three injured in a Friday morning artillery attack on a settlement in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.

The press service of Donetsk mayor’s office said that during the night residents of the Leninsky and Kalininsky districts of the region heard single explosions.

“There were explosions in the area of the Abakumova mine settlement in the morning of August 1. A shell exploded near a bus, injuring passengers. A minibus taxi driver took four injured passengers to a hospital where one of them died,” the press service said.

Preliminary reports suggest that shelling damaged the power transmission as a result of which the Abakumova mine settlement is in blackout.

Twenty-six substations of the Energougol mobile power plant are without power in the Kuibyshev district. There is no power supply in 4,500 private homes, 44 multi-storey apartment buildings and in four boiler houses. The waterworks facility in Sofiyskaya Street in Donetsk is disabled due to power outage. One more city district is without water supply.
