TOKYO, July 31. /ITAR-TASS/. Japan will continue cooperating with the international community and G7 and act in accordance with the developments in Ukraine. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has stated this in Santiago on Thursday.

Japan Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga announced plans to expand anti-Russian sanctions due to tense situation in Ukraine on Monday. Measures would include freeze of bank accounts of individuals and organizations that Tokyo believes to be implicated in destabilization in Ukraine, he said.

Japan still hoped the situation would be resolved through a diplomatic dialogue, Yoshihide Suga added calling for peace talks, stricter control on the border and end of weapon supplies to Ukraine. He suggested Moscow should use its influence on the militia and ensure access for international experts to Boeing-777 crash site.

On March 18, Japan introduced the first package of sanctions against Russia due to Russia’s stance on Crimean issue. Limiting measures suspended consultations about loosening visa regime and delayed talks about agreements on investment and space cooperation, and prevention of dangerous military activities. On July 24, Tokyo announced temporary freeze of visa issuance for 23 Russian officials and other individuals yet the list was not released.
