THE UNITED NATIONS, July 31. /ITAR-TASS/. The UN noted larger difficulties in the delivery of humanitarian aid to Syria explaining this fact with procedure regulations in Syrian government as well as armed opposition actions.

The relief delivery to hard-to-reach Syrian regions over hostilities has particularly complicated in July despite the UN Security Council resolution which should simplify cargo delivery across the border, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos said.

On Wednesday, the UN under-secretary-general reported to the UN Security Council on humanitarian situation in Syria in a video conference. The landmark event in the previous month was UN Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2165 on July 14. The resolution permitted direct humanitarian aid supplies to affected Syrian regions without Damascus’ preliminary consent. The document also envisaged deployment of observers at four border-crossing points to check cargoes being brought to the country. The first UN convoy with food supplies and primary necessities for 26 thousand people has crossed Turkish-Syrian border on July 24.

According to UN estimates, trans-border humanitarian operations allow assisting about three million Syrians who live in hard-to-reach districts over clashes.
