Third day of mourning underway in Horlivka for artillery shelling victims

DONETSK, July 30. /ITAR-TASS/. A third day of mourning for artillery shelling victims is underway in the east Ukrainian town of Horlivka, which Ukrainian troops pounded with fire on July 27. As a result, five people were killed and 23 were injured, the Novorossiya news agency of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics reported on Wednesday.
A shop and a bus station as well as several private dwellings were ruined in one neighborhood.

Three days of mourning for the victims were announced on July 28. Thirty-one people, including 8 children, died in the town in the course of two days, according to the Donetsk regional administration.
Ukraine’s National Guard fired Grad rockets at Horlivka’s residential areas in early hours on July 26. Several rockets fell on houses starting up fires. Power supplies were cut off, and people started leaving Horlivka in masses.
A number of administrative buildings were damaged in Horlivka; several houses were burnt out while a school, a hospital, including a maternity unit, a clinic and catering facilities was destroyed. All kindergartens in the town have been temporarily closed.
Seventy-five transformer substations were left without electricity. A local bread-baking plant has been relocated from Horlivka to a safer place in the town of Yenakiyevo.
