Russia will help Tajikistan modernize its armed forces and strengthen border guard, Russian Foreign Minister says

MOSCOW, July 30./ITAR-TASS/. Russia will try to get realized the UN Resolution 2166 on Malaysian jet crash in eastern Ukraine that "faces artificial difficulties", Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday.

"We have certainly discussed the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, and we have found common ground there is an urgent need to end the bloodshed and immediately launch negotiating process to find solutions acceptable for all Ukrainian regions," he said following talks with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodzhidin Aslov.

Ukraine is flatly denying assistance to Moscow in delivering humanitarian aid to Luhansk and Donetsk where the situation is sliding into a humanitarian disaster, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

Russia will help Tajikistan modernize its armed forces and strengthen border guard, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov added.

"We plan to continue helping Tajikistan modernize and reequip its armed forces as well as boost state border guard potential, especially on the border with Afghanistan," he said. "We'll take measures both bilaterally and by full implementation of CSTO decisions.

Russia and Tajikistan are preparing a number of intergovernmental agreements in the sphere of migration, Russian Foreign Minister added.

He said after a meeting with his Tajikistani counterpart on Wednesday that “agreements in the migration sphere that have come into force this year considerably ease the conditions of stay and work in Russia for citizens of Tajikistan.” “We know how importance this fact is for the country’s economy. Last year, Tajikistani citizens moved to their country more than $4 billion.

“We appreciate our Tajikistani friends’ understanding of the measures that are taken by Russia for the establishment of order in the sphere of labour migration,” Lavrov said. “Ultimately, these measures, despite their certain painful effects at the current stage, are in the interests of the foreign citizens who want to honestly and openly work in Russia and be socially protected.”

“We plan new steps in this sphere, in particular, we are at the stage of co-ordination of draft intergovernmental agreements on the organised recruitment of the republic’s citizens for temporary work in Russia, on co-operation and information exchange in the sphere of migration, on the offices of the migration services in the two countries,” the minister added.

Situation in Afghanistan

The situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating and may have a negative impact on regional situation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“In this regard, we confirmed that further improvement of mechanisms of co-operation and our actions within the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) are important,” the minister said.
