CAIRO, July 29./ITAR-TASS/. Two Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Tuesday as Israeli fire hit a vehicle of the UN agency for Palestine refugees, the Maan news agency said, giving no details.

It is only known that the incident with the vehicle of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) took place in the north of the enclave.

Israeli artillery pounded on Tuesday the Jabalia refugee camp that is also located in northern Gaza. According to eyewitnesses, dozens of shells hit dwelling houses in this area over a short period of time. More than 15 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured in the attack.

Palestinian media reported with reference to Israeli sources that the military overnight thwarted another attempt by radicals to penetrate through an underground tunnel into the Jewish State. A group of five gunmen infiltrated from the east of Gaza, but it was timely spotted and neutralised by Israeli soldiers. Representatives of Palestinian groups so far provided no comment on these reports.

Israeli strikes that started overnight and are continuing have killed more than 140 and injured 300 Palestinians in Gaza. Since July 8, when the Israeli army launched Operation Protective Edge (Solid Rock or Mighty Cliff in Hebrew) in the Palestinian enclave, more than 1,200 people have been killed in Gaza.
