CSTO peacekeeping exercises will be held July29-August 1

These are the third exercises since the CSTO member-countries signed an agreement on peacekeeping operations

MOSCOW, July 25. /ITAR-TASS/. The CSTO joint peacekeeping exercises will be held from July 29 to August 1, the CSTO spokesman, Vladimir Zainetdinov said on Friday.

The exercises will involve officials of the CSTO Defense Ministers and General Staffs, the CSTO Joint Staff, peacekeeping contingent and professors of military schools of the CSTO member-states. CSTO Secretary-General Nikolai Bordyuzha will attend the exercises. Observers from international and regional organisations will be invited.

“The CSTO peacekeeping forces will train missions for guarding key state facilities, suppressing protests and accompanying humanitarian cargoes,” Zainetdinov said.

These are the third exercises since the CSTO member-countries signed an agreement on peacekeeping operations. In 2012 the exercises were held in Kazakhstan. In 2013 the manoeuvres were organised in Russia.
