Groisman appointed as Ukraine's interim prime minister

Yatsenyuk resigned on Thursday evening after the break-up of the ruling coalition in the parliament

KIEV, July 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has been appointed as interim Prime Minister following Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s resignation. The relevant official Cabinet decision has been published on the government website on Friday.

Yatsenyuk resigned on Thursday evening after the break-up of the ruling coalition in the parliament.

Verkhovna Rada speaker Oleksandr Turchynov announced the break-up of the coalition after Vitali Klitschko's UDAR party and Oleh Tyahnibok's Svoboda (Freedom) had left hte parlimentary majority. Turchynov demanded that the "dissenters" immediately propose a candidate for caretaker prime minister.

President Petro Poroshenko supported the deputies's wish to reload the government, saying this should not paralize the parliament's work, and requested a vote of confidence in the government.
