BRUSSELS, July 23. /ITAR-TASS/. European Commission is expected to make public a new set of sanctions against Russia at a sessions of the European Council’s Committee of Permanent Representatives, commission spokesperson Pia Ahrenkidle Hansen said Wednesday.

She said coordination of restrictive measures was still in progress and she could not comment on their content at the moment.

Participants in the meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers issued a statement July 22, in which they demanded a yet another time that Russia use its influence on self-defense forces to assure investigators’ access to the site of crash of the Malaysian jet and assist international investigation.

In addition, they demanded steps towards a quick and efficient de-escalation of the situation in Ukraine, including the closure of the Russian-Ukrainian border on the Russian side the pullback of Russian troops from it.

The EU threatened with new sanctions if Moscow did not do it.

The council did not endorse any concrete measures against Russia on Tuesday but agreed to speed up the extension of the blacklist of Russian and Ukrainian individuals and companies.

EU’s foreign policy service is to come up with proposals on Thursday regarding restrictions on investments in and defense contacts with Russia, the High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton said.

She said the EU leaders were prepared to get together for a third summit since the beginning of this summer.
