HAVANA, July 22./ITAR-TASS/. Russia and China are called upon to lead a new world where mankind will live on if imperialism does not start a war of annihilation until then, Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro said on Tuesday.

Commenting on the results of the recent BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) summit, Castro described as “decisive” the contribution Russia and China can make to science, technology and economic development in South America and the Caribbean.

In an article entitled “It’s Time to Know Reality Closer” published in the newspaper Granma, Castro said Russia and Cuba “will accomplish one of the greatest feats in the history of mankind”.

Castro also recalled the assistance the Soviet Union, socialist countries, China, and North Korea had offered Cuba to help it persevere through “the merciless economic blockade imposed by the United States”.

“Despite their enormous power, they (the Americans) have failed to crush a small country only several miles away, which for more than half a century has been withstanding threats, pirate attacks, seizures of fishing boats, the sinking of merchant ships, the destruction of a Cubana de Aviacion plane over Barbados, fires in schools and other such atrocities,” Castro said.
