VIENNA, July 22./ITAR-TASS/. Progress has been achieved in consultations between the Contact Group for Ukraine and self-defense militia on the Malaysian airliner’s crash in east Ukraine, the OSCE said on Tuesday.

The Trilateral Contact Group consisting of senior representatives of Ukraine, Russia and OSCE held another round of video consultations with self-defense fighters on Tuesday, the OSCE said in a statement.

During these consultations, including the latest meeting on July 22, it had been possible to achieve progress on a number of problems related to the airliner’s crash, the statement said.

The sides agreed on initiating repatriation of most of the bodies of the plane crash victims and handing over the airplane’s black boxes to international experts, the OSCE said.

“In all the video consultations, the Contact Group highlighted the importance of secure access to the crash site and safety for the recovery and investigation workers,” the statement said.

“The Trilateral Contact Group noted with satisfaction that it had been able to be instrumental in the easing of tension and in solving a number of problems, which had arisen out of the airplane crash of 17 July 2014.”

The Malaysia Airlines Boeing-777 airliner en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in the area of combat operations between local militias and Ukrainian governmental troops in east Ukraine’s Donetsk region on Thursday, July 17. All 298 people aboard the plane, including 193 Dutch nationals, died in the air crash.
