Arab countries prepare draft resolution on Gaza
The draft may include initiatives that have been put forth recently, the elements of Egypt’s proposal and others
MOSCOW, July 22. /ITAR-TASS/. The Arab countries are working on a draft resolution on Gaza to be submitted to the UN Security Council, the Ambassador of the League of Arab States to Russia, Jalal Mashta, told ITAR-TASS on Tuesday.
"The Arab states seek to take a coordinated position," Mashta said.
He expressed hope that Russia would support the draft resolution after it had been submitted to the UN Security Council.
“On Monday (July 21) we met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov. We hope that Russia will continue the efforts to contribute to Palestine,” Mashta said.
The draft may include initiatives that have been put forth recently. “I believe that the draft resolution will comprise the elements of Egypt’s proposal and others,” he said.
“Russia puts forth an idea for including representatives of the League of Arab States and other regional players in the Middle East’s Quartet,” Mashta said.
